A game produced for Minijam 72: Adventure by DeeCeeWorks and Epic Beaver

An adventurer has spent years trying to find the fabled ring of the phoenix and after all his efforts has finally found it. The ring is said to allow the wearer to cheat death through rebirth, however when putting on the ring, the adventurer is thrust into yet another dungeon. This time he must make use of his past lives in order to escape and prove he is worthy of the ring!

Web GL version was completed post game jam but is the same game version as the game jam submission. Added a line of code to make it full screen on browser. Feel free to play either version to get your impression!

Hi :D, I've made a video about the game and I wanted to give you some feedback about it, hopefully it is useful to you :)

-The main concept/gameplay mechanics/visual style are pretty good and very polished, they work really well togheter and feel very solid.

-I would personally make the restart function a little bit faster as It feels slower when you have to restart many times while planning how to pass the level.

-Adding some visual effects or improving the lighting on the game could be great despite of it being good already.

In conclusion, the game is great and I hope you keep working on it. Hopefully this is useful for the development :D, also if you could subscribe that would help me a lot :)

Regards

Thank you so much for your feedback! We do plan on developing it further and will take what you say into consideration!

Awesome, good luck with the game development then :D

Hi DeeCeeWorks, we think this game is Phoen-tastic (pardon the pun). We think it's a great fit for our site, CoolmathGames.com. If you're interested in non-exclusive licensing, please email us at games@coolmath.com. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Great art and fun game overall, personally would also want arrow-keys to also be movemen

Yep, we have it planned to be added in!

They have been added!

Good game. I suggest adding arrow-key support for right-handed players, and making it so you can go to the next level with space instead of always having to reach for the mouse.

Thank you for the feedback! Adding arrow-key support is quite easy so we are quite embarrassed we forgot haha, we plan to add it in after the gamejam ends.

I've always asked myself this question, would wasd make you left handed?

I am left handed myself so maybe thats why I just see WASD as the way to go haha. Never really thought of it that way!

I always use WASD with my left, but that's cause the mouse usually takes the right

Arrow key support  has been added, going to the next level with enter has yet to be added but is next on our list!

I think the game bugged because when I pressed play it would go directly to level select, but I hadn't unlocked any level, so I couldn't play.

Yes I have seen this issue! Unfortunately the only way I saw to clear this is to delete cookies and reload the page. We have listed this issue and it will be fixed post jam too!

The issues have been fixed and you should be able to play without running into any game breaking bugs!

A good game, with an interesting concept. I really enjoyed playing. Congrats.

Hello! I'll be playing Ring of the Phoenix tomorrow on stream along with several other games from the Mini Jam #72 at 3:30pm EST. I'll be talking about any interesting design decisions as I play, and suggesting improvements if any come to mind. Please feel free to join me live, it'll be extra fun to chat together about your game while playing it :)

I bloody loved this and I don't actually mind that there were a few (rare) issues with the jump mechanics as that kind of adds to the charm and difficulty of this style. Trying to get 3 stars on every level nearly broke me though, haha!

Cool, I love the presentation and the concept!

The player character gets stuck at the edges of platforms I wanna jump to very often. Once I let go of the keys, he then drops down to death. That's quite annoying.

Apart from that, really cool and enjoyable 👍

We are still trying to fix that issue haha! It is quite an annoyance I must agree. I am glad you liked it overall though!
